RIBA Enterprises recently floated the idea of staging a series of free marketing seminars aimed at helping suppliers to the construction industry. It was met with widespread approval. The first of these will now take place in Central London on Thursday 4 June 2009. Book now as places are expected to go fast.
The first one-day seminar features seven specialists and will
cover three topics. The day will end with delegates having the
opportunity to sit down with an expert in a one-to-one
consultancy session on their chosen subject. The three subject
areas will be the specification process, CPD and online
marketing. Consultants will include architect Andy Jobling,
Technical Manager at Levitt Bernstein; the RIBA's Head of
Continuing Professional Development, Joni Tyler; Robert Easson,
E-Commerce Manager at RIBA Enterprises; Peter Roberts, Sales
Development Manager at Kemper System; and Minesh Patel, CPD
Marketing Manager at RIBA.
Understanding specifications – the key to winning contracts

Overview: Understanding the specification
process and its implications for the construction supply chain.
CPD: What actually works? Industry best practice
Speakers: Peter Roberts, Sales Development Manager, Kemper System; Joni Tyler, Head of CPD, RIBA; Andy Jobling, Technical Manager, Levitt Bernstein Associates
Overview: Best practice 'do's' and 'don'ts',
including from the point of view of an architect (what makes for
an interesting seminar and what to avoid), and a CPD provider
(how to build relationships, case studies).
Exploiting online marketing opportunities in the construction sector
Speakers: Robert Easson, E-Commerce Manager,
RIBA Enterprises; John Henderson, Software Development

Overview: A brief overview of the principles of
Search Engine Marketing and allied concepts. Why vertical search
still matters and how to get the most out of specialist B2B
platforms. Using content to build your brand online and help
your niche audience find you.
Reaction to the free workshops, announced in the April issue of RIBA Enterprises' Bulletin newsletter, was immediate and positive. Although seminars will be open to both clients and non-clients, preference will therefore be given to RIBA Enterprises' own customers. Others will be invited to pre-register, with tickets allocated strictly on a 'first come, first served' basis.
