New ribaproductselector.com upgrades boost visitor numbers

ribaproductselector.com visitor numbers have surged as a result of improvements to the site and its performance within search engines.

Latest ABCe figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations show that the market leading website aimed at specifiers attracted 221,186 unique visitors and over 435,000 page impressions in October 2009 alone.

Developed by an in-house team of architects, software engineers, designers and marketers, ribaproductselector.com has been carefully optimised to provide relevant information regardless of whether an enquiry originates via site-wide search or on one of the major search engines.

Last year saw a number of major developments including enhanced catalogue pages, more detailed product listings and improved integration with RIBA Enterprises' select enewsletter.

Enhanced catalogue pages

Enhanced catalogue pagesUpdated catalogue summary pages were introduced in June 2009 to provide more information about the catalogues themselves and a more engaging experience for the user. Each catalogue page now also lists other catalogues by the same manufacturer and provides manufacturers with the opportunity to showcase particular product literature – for example, latest editions.

Product listings with specification text

Product listings with specification textAugust 2009 saw the introduction of the new 'Products' tab featuring details of NBS Plus-listed products. This alone resulted in a significant increase in product exposure. Called 'Linked Profiles', details now include NBS product clauses. Now architects and other specifiers can search specifically for product information derived from NBS Plus and can either download it as a PDF or copy it directly into a project specification.

Improved integration with select

select is a monthly enewsletter sent to over 9,000 opted-in recipients. Used to promote product updates, company news and case studies it's read by a range of construction industry professionals including architects, engineers, building facilities managers and other specifiers.

In November 2009 ribaproductselector.com was updated to promote the latest edition of each newsletter and include an archive of previous issues. Hosting each issue online will facilitate their being indexed by search engines, in turn raising the visibility and awareness of products featured within.
