Display your NBS product specifications on your website

Stephen Hamil, head of NBS software development, explains how easy it is to display your NBS product specifications on your website, and the real benefits of doing so.

NBS Plus positions your product information alongside the relevant NBS clause at the point at which an architect or engineer is writing the specification. All the specifier has to do is click once to add your product to their project.

Around 5,000 practices now subscribe to NBS. It's used by 97 of the top 100 architectural practices in the UK. This widespread popularity of NBS among architects, together with NBS Plus' own unique strengths, make NBS Plus a must-have marketing tool among product suppliers.

One of the most popular features among these is the ability to display NBS product specifications on their website. This has the following benefits:

  • Smaller practices that specify by writing notes on drawings can easily add a robust, concise NBS product specification from the supplier's own website
  • When an NBS technical team member updates a supplier's NBS Plus content, it's also automatically updated on their website
  • The NBS Plus brand is clearly visible, making it easy for visitors to quickly identify suppliers that are members of a trusted service.

The great news for readers that are existing clients of NBS Plus is that it's very simple to add your NBS Plus information to your website. Your webmaster simply has to copy and paste a short snippet of HTML code onto the page – and it automatically appears.

Around a third of all NBS Plus manufacturers now take advantage of this. Two examples are displayed below. Figure 1 shows how Knauf AMF display all of their NBS Plus products on a single page. They've styled the NBS Plus information to match the rest of their website. Users simply click on each product name to see and use the associated NBS Plus product specification.

Figure 2 shows how Wykamol present their NBS Plus content in a slightly different way. They've customised their NBS Plus information to position each specification separately alongside each product.

NBS Plus's key strength has always been that it presents your most pertinent product to the specifier, at the most appropriate time in their decision making process, using language relevant to the task in hand. Providing access to up-to-date specifications via your website maximises the opportunity for your products to be selected.
