AJ Top 100: a route to greater Insight

Architects revel in their individuality. So marketing to over 29,000 of them – or even just the top 100 practices – presents its own challenges. Few surely have the resources to engage with that many specifiers? Even fewer surely possess that level of insight? You would think.

AJ Top 100: a route to greater Insight

As the marketing muscle behind the commercial arm of the Royal Institute of British Architects, RIBA Insight has been uniquely positioned to help develop a range of products for specifiers and those selling to specifiers, and to ensure that they've become indispensible.

We've gained an unrivalled understanding of how architects and specifiers search for, select, and buy the products and services – your products and services – used in their designs. How effectively we've translated that understanding into practice may be seen by our penetration among the most successful architecture firms in the UK. The AJ100 Awards 2010 prioritises the top one hundred practices and presents their findings annually in the form of a league table.

RIBA Product Selector – used by 100% of AJ100 2010

Published annually for more than a quarter of a century RIBA Product Selector still enjoys a fiercely loyal following among architects, interior designers, surveyors, engineers and contractors. A recent survey of its more than 20,000 users revealed that 89 per cent had used the directory in the previous twelve months while working on a live project, and that over four in five had specified a product having first identified in the directory.

Why time is running out on the 2011 directory

NBS Plus – accessible to 96% of AJ100 2010

NBS Plus allows specifiers to add the name and address of a chosen supplier directly into their specification sheet. The resultant 'shopping list' therefore includes both technical detail and the information needed to buy. The entire process requires just a single click of the mouse. NBS Plus includes a library of manufacturers' product information that is intuitively linked to relevant specification clauses, making it very easy to use by architects, engineers and the like.

RIBA CPD Providers Network – used by 80%* of AJ100 2010

With more than 500 providers offering over 1,000 seminars, workshops and presentations, RIBA assessed CPD is the obvious first port of call for architects wanting to build on their existing knowledge (and fulfil their 35 hour CPD obligations), and for manufacturers and suppliers wanting to strengthen the bonds of trust with potential clients. Over 30,000 construction industry professional professionals attended a RIBA accredited CPD seminar in 2009.

* Based on architects' feedback following completion of CPD seminars/presentations. Since this is voluntary the actual figure is likely to be higher.
