RIBA CPD Roadshows – building relationships

If you were offered the chance to have your ultimate marketing wish fulfilled, wouldn’t “to be recognised as an expert in a room full of potential clients” be high on your ‘wanted’ list? If so, you will unwittingly have described exactly what it’s like to present at a RIBA CPD Roadshow. What’s more, RIBA Insight is in a position to grant one wish in April.

RIBA CPD Roadshows are a great way to meet regionally based architects and other specifiers from all sectors of the construction industry. They’re an opportunity for members of the RIBA CPD Providers Network to deliver their own RIBA-approved CPD material as part of a full day of seminars, attended by up to 300 architects and other construction industry professionals.

RIBA CPD Roadshows – building relationships

Slots for the first quarter’s Roadshows are filling up fast. On going to press only one slot remains available for the London CPD Roadshow on 19 April. All slots for the first five Roadshows are now fully booked. In total there will be 19 regional RIBA CPD Roadshows in 2012, visiting major towns and cities across the UK.

Finding, let alone engaging with, construction professionals from all sectors of the industry can be a challenge. RIBA CPD Roadshows bring architects and allied professionals together in one room. The average audience for each individual seminar is 40 attendees*.

Attendees gain by hearing about latest advances, best practice and regulatory changes. In addition to contributing to their CPD hours for the year, all Roadshows provide attendees with an unbeatable opportunity to network. The most popular topics in the 2011 Roadshow calendar were sustainability, regulation changes, product information and technical detail.

Construction industry professionals value RIBA-approved CPD because it’s less product-specific and more focused on design application i.e. the problem(s) that it solves. The RIBA's reputation means that it carries additional weight and credibility among, not just architects, but surveyors, engineers, contractors and other professionals. All RIBA CPD Roadshow presentations must be RIBA approved.

Both the Roadshows and individual presentations receive widespread advance publicity by the RIBA and RIBA Insight. Event calendars and links on http://www.architecture.com (the RIBA’s official website), banner ads on RIBA Enterprises’ websites, e-newsletters and direct mailings are all used to encourage registration by a broad spectrum of potential delegates. Providers also benefit from having their own exhibition space at the event – providing a convenient and discrete location for face-to-face meetings, wider networking and gathering contact data (subject to compliance with the Data Protection Act).

RIBA CPD Roadshows are just one of many benefits available to members of the RIBA CPD Providers Network. The Network is made up of manufacturers, suppliers, advisory organisations, training companies and others that have developed a range of CPD and training materials, assessed and approved by the RIBA.
